I decided I’d visit “Bulldogs” this evening around 7:30pm. As I approached the bar and had my credit card out, the bartender asked me what I wanted then told me they do not take cards. Being a minority at that establishment (it’s a primarily black bar and I’m white), I went over to their ATM that requires of course a $3 charge on all transactions. When I couldn’t get through I left for the Wells Fargo Atm(outside, down the street).
I realized within this period that I have been to Bulldogs numerous times w/in the past 2 months and I’ve seen the bartenders take credit cards from black men. I’ve seen them print out receipts to have their clients sign. I thought, of course, that I’d be treated the same. I had to end up leaving because of my “lack of cash”. I felt extremely discriminated against seeing that the only people in the past that have been allowed to use credit cards are black men. The bartender, who happens to be white, had already made my drinks and claimed to a friend who followed me out that I owe him $14. I have the money and will NEVER go to their establishment again. And tell every white person not to go also. It’s a very racist community and this is unacceptable to me. Pure, obvious racism. My friend who is black and frequents the establishment told me that a lot of people pay by credit card all the time. FYI, I have always paid cash there so they have never had trouble with any of my cards. The bartender’s name is Phillip Cockran and the owner of the establishment’s name is Michael (don’t have last name)
